Out of the way of the May Madness - and opening clinic

Franchard Hauts Sablons, Fontainebleau

This little area on the early part of the ridge before Hautes Plaines is an awesome little spot that my husband and I have developed. As yet there is no circuit here, but there are problems in the grade 5 and up. I would love to share the problems with you in a quite, easy to access area away from the madding crowds of May.

NOTICE

Due to the RAIN that is forecast it is unlikely that we will be able to climb. This effects both the openers and the climbers.

All climbing has to be cancelled, but there is still a chance that we could clean some of the boulders. This depends greatly on the weather that actually arrives. The most important part of today, however, is to inform and empower girls to own this aspect of the sport! We will still meet here at 11am. Bring waterproofs, brushes and gloves. There is an abri bivouac that we can sit in and chat if it rains hard, but the forecast has a clear window between 11am and 1pm. We can take a walk on the paths and discuss boulders that could or should not be opened. Look at boulders that have already been put up, and discuss how they look. Consider our own impact, brushing techniques for reduced impact, and ethical aspects of opening.

Please bring gloves, and a stiff bristle brush. Potato scrubbing brushes are the best, with natural or plastic bristles. Wire brushes are rarely used, and only in special circumstances. …. Come along to find out more…

Hello, I’m emma I’m really excited to be heading there for the women’s meet up on the 7th and just wondering about the best place to camp in the van near by? If anyone has a recommendation that would be amazing as it’s my first time and not entirely sure where I’m going :)
Thank you
Emma

Hiya Emma,

These are two free bivouacs, where you can park overnight without worries

1. Dropped pin

2. Parking Bourron (bivouac)

Then there are two main campsites, but personally I think 2. Is better 🥰

1. Camping La Musardière

2. Camping Les Prés - Aquadis Loisirs

Hiya, we are still meeting up to talk about opening new boulders. It’s going to be a bit wet, so I’m not sure how many will come, but I’ll be there between 11am and 12.

I’m at the campsite you suggested :) it’s so beautiful I thought I’ll stay for the night to get some rest and see what’s what in the morning :)
Thanks Helen :)
